Susan Spivack
Watercolorist
Award winning Watercolorist Susan Spivack graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (State University of New York) and has studied at numerous workshops in Italy, France and throughout the Northeast. She is a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Rowayton Art Society and the nationally renowned Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. A resident of Westport, she has been exhibited in numerous museums around the country and her works are part of countless private collections.
Susan Spivack draws from her earlier career as a successful designer in the field of decorative arts, but acknowledges the paradox that the seemingly fixed rules of the commercial world have yielded to the liberating and improvisatory nature so characteristic of her recent work. She explains that her goal “is to transforms the ordinary into something stimulating to the eye…my application of color is largely intuitive. I never try to duplicate or imitate but rather give my subject a new life of its own.”
This showcase of her works can be viewed by clicking on the Figurative, Landscape and Still LIfe links at the top or the correcsponding pictures below; and at her home studio/gallery by request (see "Contact" link).

"Transformation of the ordinary into something stimulating to the eye . . .
giving my subject a new life of its own."
